Just a short drive south of San Antonio in the little town of Moore, sits this hidden gem, Doe-Re-Mi Lavender Farm.   I stumbled upon this place when I was researching the benefits of fresh lavender plants and wanted to purchase some of my own.  I was excited to learn of a local lavender farm that sold plants and planned a visit for the following weekend.  To my surprise, Doe-Re-Mi Lavender Farm had a lot more to offer than just a nice selection of lavender plants; it was the perfect place to spend an afternoon away from the chaos of the current state of our world, take in the peaceful fragrance of lavender, engage in various activities with my family and enjoy some delicious lavender treats prepared at the farm. Below you will find the various features and activities available at the farm.

Pick Fresh Lavender

Doe-Re-Mi Lavender Farm has over 1,500 various lavender plants available for you to pick your own bundles!  Whether you are picking for the beauty, fragrance, or flavor of the lavender, Doe-Re-Mi Lavender Farm has an abundance of fresh lavender for you to pick from.  I personally chose to pick a bundle to make a decorative arrangement for my home, but there are so many great ways you can use fresh lavender:

  • Food and Beverage - Make your own Lavender Lemonade, Ice Cream, Cookies, Scones, and more!  Lavender, along with rosemary, is also a great addition when grilling!

  • Fragrance - Mix lavender petals with baking soda and sprinkle on your carpet before vacuuming.  You can also use dried lavender for potpourri or in a decorative arrangement to add a settle scent of calming lavender to your home.

  • Rest and Relaxation - Boil fresh lavender and sit near the steam to breathe in the vapor or add fresh lavender to a hot bath or shower. Another way to enjoy lavender is to add oatmeal an lavender petals in muslin cloth or stockings to make a relaxing bath scrub.

Purchase Plants & Produce

At the lavender farm, you can buy a variety of lavender plants as well as various seeds, herb & vegetable plants and some fresh produce.

Farm Animals

The kids will enjoy the opportunity to feed the resident goats and donkey!  Grab a feed-filled cone and watch the farm animals enjoy a treat.  There are also about 40 chickens to see and feed as well.

Yard Games

While we enjoyed walking through and picking fresh lavender and feeding the animals,  one of our favorite parts of our visit was enjoying the various yard games available to play with your family.  We played Corn-Hole, a giant game of Connect Four, and Yard Jenga.  It was so nice being outside, surrounded by beautiful plants, the light fragrance of sweet lavender, a country breeze, warm sun and just being present with the family and playing together.

Shop for Various Products

Ann, owner of Doe-Re-Mi Lavender Farm, offers a variety of lavender products including body products, essential oils, treats and more.  You can also find various items such as books, decor, gardening supplies and more.  We purchased fresh-made Lavender Lemonade and Lavender Shortbread cookies to enjoy outside at one of the picnic tables; both were incredibly delicious, light and refreshing.  I highly recommend ordering a glass of lemonade during your visit - you will not be disappointed!

Local Honey
You can also purchase fresh, local honey from Doe-Re-Mi Lavender Farm's hive - produced right at the farm!

There is so much to enjoy at the farm - my family enjoyed a nice two-hour visit. We all need a little getaway and enjoy some R&R.  Doe-Re-Mi Lavender Farm offers a great experience for your entire family and provides a little escape from reality.  Tucked away off of the 35, it is perfect for a day trip to reset and recharge with the family. Due to Covid-19, they are offering reservations for private visits.  There is no entry fee - just pay for what you pick, purchase or eat. Cal or email to reserve your time slot to visit this summer.
